Cairns

The first stop on our vacation was Cairns in Queensland which is on the Northern end of the South Coastline. This picture is of the Lagoon looking out over the ocean.  At the tourist places they have lagoons for safe swimming.  This way there are no boats, and no other dangerous water animals such as Sharks, Crocodiles,  Jelly Fish and Sting Ray.

While in Cairns we went snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef.
It was so amazing.  It took quite a while to get used to the whole breathing
underwater but once I could actually do it with panicking, it was beautiful!!
Here are just a few pictures that we took.  We have over 200 just from
underwater so I had to choose just a few.  Enjoy!!

This is in fact Dylan in case you were wondering!!

  1. It looks so beautiful there! Just a question, though.....how did you take so many underwater pictures? Did you buy 10 disposable camera's?

  3. It is very pretty here. The trees just add that tropical feel! Everyone just walks around in their swim gear which is hard to get used to!! We actually bought a waterproof cover for our small digital camera. It is good for up to 5m. We looked at just hiring a waterproof one but then we thought about how many more times we would use it on our trip. Turns out, it has been fairly useful! And we can always use it when we get home to. I can only imagine, that would have been quite a sight to have 5 cameras strapped to each arm! Good on ya!
